Sketchbook

Even though I spend a lot of my time working on the monthly Mat the Wad cartoons, somehow I still manage to find time to sketch every once in a while.

My wife had an idea for this web comic. I guess I have been enjoying Comics Coast to Coast a lot, so she said why not to try it too. So here it is - a funny Thanksgiving phone call.    Happy Thanksgiving!

Utini! Translation- "Hm. What's with that really large Jawa with wings. I think I'll go over there and see what's up." Pen with Marker on paper.

It's been a while since I've focused on creating a polished illustration. I really enjoyed working on this one. This was created to be badge art for ConnectiCon 2011. Other than the theme of steampunk, I was given free reign on this one.

Here's another sketch that I started at the Boston Comic Con and finished recently. I always thought Storm was one of the cooler X-men characters. 8x10 Pen with Marker.

Here's a drawing I did at the 2011 Boston Comic Con. I don't normally draw existing comic book characters, but I figured "while in Rome..." This was my first time using markers on a piece and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. 8x10 pen with marker.

This guy is just so angry that he was born with pale green hair! Pen with colored pencil.

This is Beaky the bird. He was inspired by a oddly shaped piece of paper that I thought looked like a bird.  Beaky was also done entirely with a four-color pen.

Here's a little soldier guy I sketched out one day.  The image was done entirely with one of those four-color pens.
